Dima Vorobiev,
No. There were two factors that hopelessly prevented the US territory from getting on our military drawing boards.
The oceans. Getting the adequate fleet capacity to carry an invasion force to the American continent was for our troops a task beyond science fiction. Besides, since the time we won a few battles with the Ottoman fleet, our navy hasn’t made too much headway. U-boats have been functional, the nuclear ones especially, but the last time we engaged in a serious naval battle in 1904, it ended up pretty ugly. We were able to threaten the US with our missiles—but a head-to-head confrontation with their surface vessels would have ended sooner than the Tsusima Battle.
Our military strategy was based on Communist ideology. It states that for revolutionary wars to be effective, they must rely on the internationalist effort of proletarian masses. In other words, there must be a certain level of local support for the Soviet cause including an armed pro-Soviet insurgency. The US has never been even close to that. I can’t recall any Soviet propaganda imagery where a distinctly “American” “worker” ( not a black or a peace activist) was pictured in a defiant, combat-ready posture, as was customary for proletarians in Europe.
The poster below from 1969 “Equality, America style” shows the American proletarian seen from this side of the Iron Curtain: a suffering submissive serf toiling for the profit of assertive Capitalist oppressors. Unlike the Nazis, we never believed in non-native administration. With proletarians like these, even after a successful invasion we would find no local recruitment pool of collaborators, like we used to do in places like the Baltics, Poland, Germany.
Dead end, totally. Millions of weapons in private homes just paled against this huge, unsurmountable problem.

Elvir Mujanovic
Their strategy was very simple yet highly effective. The goal was to get enough Americans to hate each other over small political differences that they would rather side with the Russians than with their fellow countrymen. The only missing piece was a leader of one of the factions that would be supportive of the Russian cause and the Soviet Union died an untimely death waiting for such a leader, who emerged almost 30 years too late. Such is life

Dan Regers
outside of resistance after invasion i doubt american civilian gun owners would be of great concern.
an untrained mob of people with gun’s will really not perform very well vs an organised professional army, and would likely cause them very little problems. they would likely rout in an unorganized fashion pretty quickly, and easily.
if they could be organised by the government into some kind of home defense force with actual training in basic tactics, and some command structure they might prove to be a bit more threatening, but i honestly doubt it with no co-ordination or support from other branches of the armed forces. i also highly doubt most weapons American’s own would prove much threat to any kind of armored vehicle.

Devin Wright,
They are using retarded professors and colleges now to disarm American minds.
They are very active online and love baiting people with ‘facts’ but they expect you to be too stupid to know how those facts relate to your own political environment.
So, yes, China and Russia are allies expecting to ride on one another over American banks and social controls.
That is what the gun-control garbage is all about. They think they can either use the guns in their favor to destabilize and weaponize the already religious clowns who rely on guns to keep their Jesus Humping, or that they can outright make guns impossible to obtain.
Both options work in their favor and both will fail and are failing.
Russia is a bear. China is a turtle. Both of them plot against America as much as possible…Canada and Australia are also using the chaos to grow evil quietly. Neither are going to succeed.
Communists and zealots are retarded by their need to censor and lie. That is their weakness

Paul Rodgers,
No, the Soviets never seriously contemplated invading America.
On the contrary, their main strategic thinking was based on the fact that they faced enemies on all sides.
To the West was Nato, from Norway through central Europe to Turkey. Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Australia, etc were on the East. To the north, across the pole, were Canada and the US itself.
And to the south was China, which for most of the time was more of a rival than a Communist brother, and US allies Pakistan, Iran (until 1979) Iraq (after 1979), Saudi Arabia and even Israel.
If by some freak arrangement of circumstances they had been able to invade the US, civilian gun owners would have been a minor irritant.
Summary execution for possession of a firearm would soon thin their ranks.

David Johnston
Dear glob if they’d had the power to defeat the United States navy and army they were hardly going to worry about civilians with hunting rifles and handguns. And before you bring up the more successful resistance movements, they all had external support, very rough terrain The Soviets didn’t of course actually have the power to launch a transoceanic invasion so it was a moot point anyway

Corwin Drake,
Neither side seriously planned to invade. They were in a state of mutual deterrence, as the loser of a nuclear war doesn't have much left to invade.
Civilian gun ownership doesn't change anything, but wouldn't have even if there was an invasion. Disorganized civilians, even using military weapons, mostly lack the training and equipment and sheer numbers of an invading army. Even former military personnel would just be speedbumps to a war machine.

Luiz Paulo Oliveira Pereira da Silveira
Of course yes. Not invasion with armies, but spreading the revolution, invading with propaganda and class ideology.
From the beginning of the”scientific communism” of Marx and Angels, worldwide Revolution was the goal.
Armed civilians would be “enlightened” and “freed from their shackles”, joining the army of the proletarians.
After the Trotsky-Stalin debacle, the international Revolution fell out of favor among the high bureaucracies of the Communist party. So after the 1930s, Soviet invasion of the Americas was a far-off far-flung goal.

Tatyana Astakhova
There were no such plans. After the exchange of nuclear strikes and the destruction of aircraft carriers and submarines and enemy long-range bombers, the USSR planned
to seize Europe. The remains of its industrial base. After that, it does not matter what savages with cut-offs run around the radioactive wasteland - America.
